About the role

Padmission builds software for the people working to end homelessness. The programs that move families out of shelters and into stable homes are enormously complex behind the scenes — and far too much of that work still runs on spreadsheets and paper. Journey is the platform that solves this: it gives caseworkers and program staff the tools to manage housing assistance end to end, so they spend less time fighting their software and more time helping the families in front of them.

You'll turn program needs into requirements developers can build against, verify the work before it ships, keep the docs honest, and be the first friendly voice users hear. We're an AI-forward team — we use Claude and other AI tools throughout the day, integrated into ClickUp — so you'll be comfortable working alongside AI. If you're hungry to learn and care about the details, we'll teach you the rest, including the housing domain that makes this work matter.

The features you help ship don't just close tickets — they help a real person get the keys to a real home.
02

What you'll do

Define requirements. Work with subject-matter experts to capture business needs and translate them into clear, build-ready requirements and acceptance criteria — managed in ClickUp, using AI tools like Claude to draft and refine.

Support the build. Be the developers' go-to for clarification — answer the "what should this actually do?" questions quickly so work doesn't stall.

Verify the work. Test completed features in the browser against the agreed requirements before they're considered done. Catch the gaps, edge cases, and "that's not quite what we meant" issues early.

Keep the docs current. Write and maintain user-facing documentation and the product changelog so customers always know what changed and how to use it.

Be first-line support. Field customer questions about how to use Journey, resolve what you can, and escalate the rest to engineering with the context they need.

What we're looking for

This is an entry-level role — we're hiring for aptitude and attitude, not a long résumé.

What matters most
  • Strong written communication — explain a technical thing to a non-technical user, and a business need to a developer.
  • Comfortable using AI tools daily — you've used something like ChatGPT or Claude and are eager to get better at working alongside AI, not anxious about it.
  • Sharp eye for detail navigating web apps — the "wait, does this actually work?" instinct.
  • Genuine curiosity and willingness to learn a complex domain from the ground up.
  • Reliability and ownership — juggle several threads on a small team without dropping things.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience (any field).
Nice to have
  • Any exposure to QA, customer support, technical writing, or software requirements.
  • Familiarity with ClickUp, or agile/Scrum tools like Jira or Linear.
  • Experience using AI assistants for writing, research, or structured work.
  • Internship or project experience at a software or SaaS company.
No housing experience?

You do not need prior knowledge of housing programs, HUD, or homeless services — almost nobody starts a career with it. We'll teach you the domain (CoC, PHA, HQS/NSPIRE, and the rest), and it's part of what makes this work meaningful.
